Nor-Cal 600 & Nor-Cal Coastal 8K600, Oct 5-6 2024

Humboldt Randonneurs will offer a late season Nor-Cal 600 this Oct 5/6, including bag drops from Arcata, CA to Ft Bragg and on to the finish at Crissy Field in SF!

Starting Toni’s 24 hour restaurant in Arcata, we will initially head north through Trinidad to Humboldt Lagoons turn around. Having been treated to an early spectacular view of the rugged coast, we will pass through bucolic pasture land near Arcata and in the Eel river valley. We will continue on through the Avenue of the Giants, possibly stopping in Garberville for lunch, then on to Legget where the route turns west on CA-1, climbs then descends through lush, verdant Redwood forests and emerges out on the Pacific coast where the highway turns south.

Bag drops will be offered to the Motel 6 just a few block north of a 24 hour Safeway where riders can refuel and rest before the second day down some of the most stunning portions of northern California coastline, finishing in Crissy Field park in San Francisco.

Ride fee $50 with bag drops/ $10 with no bags.

Additionally, Humboldt Randonneurs is pleases to announce a new point-to-point 8K600 route (600 km with over 8,000 m of climbing, helping riders to qualify for an R10000 award – in addition to just being awsome!). Starting in Arcata, CA, the route heads out through the bucolic pasture of the Eel River through the Victorian town of Ferndale then starts some significant climbs out to the Lost Coast then up the Matole River through Petrolia and Honeydew before climbing Panther Gap and descending into the Gaint Redwoods and on up through the Avenue of the Giants, up to Legget where the route follows CA-1 out to the Pacific Coast and down through Ft Bragg where riders may find a few hours of rest before continuing down the spectacularMendicino Coast through Manchester, Point Arena and Gualala, and on down the Sonoma Coast with a big climb up cliffs descending 1,000 ft to the Pacific Ocean; through Jenner, on to Bodega Bay, past Tomales Bay through Point Reyes Station, inland on Sir Francis Drake blvd through Fairfax and Sausalito, and across the Golden Gate Bridge before finishing in at Crissy Field in San Francisco!
