Humboldt Randonneurs’ Gamblers 1000, 625 miles from Reno to Las Vegas!

For 2024 Humboldt Randonneurs will host the original route for the Gamblers’ 1000. Starting in Reno, NV, heading north through Paiute Tribal land past Pyramid Lake before heading east to the first overnight at 209 miles in Austin, NV. The second day will take riders down into the Big Smokey Valley heading south through Tohnopa and the historic mining town of Goldfield and on to the second overnight of Beatty at mile 420. The next morning riders will cross into California and descend 4,500 3 over 17 miles into Death Valley! Ride will be limited to 22 riders due to limited lodging available in Austin NV. Registration will cover lodging in double rooms in Austin NV and Beatty NV as well as dinner in Austin, Beatty and Tecopa Hotsprings. Bag drops will be supplied for Austin, Beat and Las Vegas. Ride will be limited to 22 riders due to limited lodging available in Austin NV. Minimal neutral on-course support will be provided on the second day around Goldfield and the third day in Death Valley in the form of a single roving water vehicle. The rover cannot be relied upon for SAG or rider pick-up. We will make our best effort to account for all participants and help get stranded riders to a safe location. Riders that cannot complete the course will need to arrange their own pick up.

The ride fee of $500 will cover lodging in double (shared room) and dinner on the 1st and 2nd night; bag drops to each over night location and the finish, a roving vehicle and BBQ at Tecopa Hotsprings. The ride fee is payable by March 1st (50% refundable after March 1, non-refundable after April 1, but completely tranferable). After the 1st 22 ride payments are recieved the remaining registrants will be placed on a wait list in the order registrations were recieved.

Transportation to and from the start and finish as well as accommodations at the start and finish are the responsibility of the participants. Humboldt Randonneurs is arranging a Group Rate at the finish hotel and will send a discount link.
